Foundation Doctors 2009

Welcome

I would like to welcome you to Dorset County Hospital where you are due to start the F1 year of the Foundation Programme in August 2009.  Prior to starting in your respective departments, you will be required to complete a period of shadowing which starts on Wednesday 29th July 2009.  As far as possible, you will be shadowing the outgoing F1 doctor whom you are to replace. The purpose of this is to help familiarise yourself with the nature and pattern of the work which you will undertake, and to meet some of the people with whom you will be working as part of a team.

Your  corporate induction starts on Tuesday 4th August 2009. The purpose of induction is to introduce you to the various systems which are in place in this Trust and which enable the organisation to run as smoothly as possible. A part of this will be completed on line and should be done either during or before your shadowing week.

Both shadowing and attendance at induction is now mandatory for all doctors in training and the programme enclosed will be the only opportunity available for you to meet these requirements, so do ensure that you attend.

My colleagues and I in the Education Centre look forward to meeting you on the 29th July. Please do take the time to come into the office and introduce yourself. We can provide you with help and advice on a wide range of topics not just relating to education and training.

Offer Letters & Clearance Paperwork

The above information will be posted to the address that you gave on your original application form. This should reach you by the end of May 2009. You will need to complete and return this to Medical HR no later than Monday 15th June 2009.

Accommodation

Free accommodation for your shadowing period has been booked for you.  Should you not require any accommodation for this period, please notify the accommodation office by Friday 17th July 2009. There will be a charge for accommodation during your FY1 Year. For further details please contact the Accommodation team.
