Personal property
The safety and security of patients’ personal property is important to the hospital. You are advised not to bring expensive items of jewellery or clothing with you when staying in hospital and only a small amount of cash for items such as newspapers.
When you are admitted to Dorset County Hospital you will be asked if you wish to secure any valuables or cash. These items will be recorded and taken to the General Office for safekeeping. If you are in hospital for a while, your cash can be released to you as and when you require it.
The General Office is located in North Wing near the main reception and is open 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.
Your property will be released to you when you are discharged. If you are discharged on a Friday evening or during the weekend, your property will be released to you the following working day.
If you do not wish to use the secure facilities provided and you decide to bring valuable items into hospital, we cannot accept responsibility for the safeguarding of that property.
